Bohol Rock Awards on March 20

BRA fever is on!

It is already definite. The Bohol Rock Awards will be on March 20, 2010. Organized the different local production groups of Bohol, BRA will give out awards to different categories for the local underground bands.

There will be a series of events that will be held dubbed "The Road to the Bohol Rock Awards" featuring the bands that are eligible for nomination in any of the categories. The minimum requirement for inclusion is that the band should be a local underground band with current recordings and compositions.

If you don't have any works yet, there is still time to chop up some music and lyrics, and get it recorded.

1. The Bohol Rock Awards or BRA is finally taking shape. We have solicited commitment from a lot of people already especially the event organizers (Plugout, CentralSense, Kalma, GarahEvents, Power Mind...etc). This is good since the nomination committee will be composed of organizers, producers and other key industry players. Votes will be cast by musicians and other industry players as well.

Here is a list of awards to be given, thus far:

1. Best Guitars/Bass/Drummer/Vocals
2. Artist of the Year (Band)
3. Album of the Year (Band)
4. Blogger's Choice Award (online poll/vote)

The main event is pegged to happen on the second half of January next year. Stay tuned.

3. BYU ROCK TV launched! BYU Rock TV or Bohol Underground Rock is now online. Please check out http://byurocktv.blogspot.com or add us on Facebook to view the latest event videos, interviews and music videos.

BYU Rock (with reference to "byuteh" "byuha oi!" also) will hopefully be the main identity to represent the Bohol underground music scene.

News, Updates and Showbiz Chikkas

1. November 21, 2009, 8PM. Martins Restobar in cooperation with TUL Society and PUNKSTATION presents "A Tribute to our Brother Boboy Regner" featuring six of Bohol's best bands Brownbuds, Estranghero, Yordaddy, Spoogo, No Pets Aloud and Zigmantra. Door charge: PhP40 only. Thanks to Maw2x of CentralSense for the help.

2. After a few rounds of Red Horse at Martins, an idea came up: "Bohol Rock Awards". Why not? Best Guitarist, Best Bassist, Best Vocals, Best Drummer, Band of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist...etc. More developments on this soon.

3. Bohol CompoFest 2009 a yearly event brought to you by PowerMind Concepts (Kikoi) is coming up. Last week of December. Brace yourselves.

4. Thanks to Jinzo, this site won't have to shutdown after all. After the No Pets Aloud post, we are lining up a few more profiles of new bands. We already interviewed Galatea - video, photos and article soon.

5. Welcome new members of the BoholBands Online team: Maw2x, Jinzo and Franz. We hope to deliver new and fresh content soon.

BYU Rock Updates

We are starting to roll! In the next few weeks, new stuff will happen. As it seemed, our local rock scene is starting to evolve and evolve for the better. Here are some updates:

• Bang!Bang! will tour Tubigon on December 20, 2008 featuring some bands from the Bang!Bang! compilation CD. The event is presented by Mater Dei College and organized by Central Sense. Bring your disco shoes. There will be a disco after the show.
  
• BYU Rock (or Bohol Underground Rock, byuteh!) will soon be heard over a local FM Radio. The radio show, aptly called "BYU Rock", will air from 6 to 7 in the evening every Sunday starting in the next weeks or so. All original BYU Rock songs will be played and will probably feature some bands to play an acoustic set in the booth. This is gonna be huge!
• "Sound Bites" a video produced by OneTake Productions will soon debut its first episode featuring a live performance by Nico Franco. The program will be posted in episodes and is hosted by Roy Tutor a.k.a Jet Pag-ngan.
  
• D'Cruisers band is in the final stages in the recording of their first indie album. Let's all watch our for that.
  
• More bands are lining up for recording slots at SoundGarage Recording Studios. This means new and fresh materials. This means you gotta move your ass, form a band and start rockin', too!
